Salem co-op sugar mill gets new water treatment plant

Namakkal: The Salem cooperative sugar mills at Mohanur right here on Saturday were given a sophisticated water remedy plant and a sugar cane crusher.

State electrical energy minister P Thangamani, social welfare minister V Saroja and industries minister M C Sampath devoted the dual-layer reverse osmosis membrane sewage water remedy plant, which prices about Rs 8.five crore.

Pointing out that it was a loss-making unit, Thangamani stated this did not stop leader minister Edappadi Okay Palaniswami from doling out cash for the plant for the good thing about farmers.

The electrical energy minister blamed the previous DMK government for failure to put in power technology devices within the 12 sugar mills across the state.

"The delay was due to the then DMK government giving the work of installing machineries to an unqualified contractor. The work, which should have been completed in 12 months, is yet to be completed," Thangamani stated.

Industries minister Sampath stated the government has set a goal to produce three lakh metric tonne of sugar in 2017-18 monetary yr from the mill. "Farmers owning a total of about 3,000 acres coming under sugar cane cultivation have registered to supply raw materials," he stated.


Meanwhile, the electrical energy minister condemned the opposition events for spreading false information about the state government. "The opposition party leaders are jealous of EPS government's achievements," he stated.


The minister stated the government was running for the welfare of farmers. "Chief minister had ordered desilting of water bodies across the state. And it helped to store water after the recent northeast monsoon," he stated.


District collector Asia Mariam, Namakkal MP P R Sundaram as well as MLA Okay P P Baskar had been provide at the match.
