Hindu activists protest ‘discrimination’

Hubballi: Hindu organizations staged a protest against Gokul police on Thursday night time, condemning the alleged discrimination over placing up banners around the town.

BJP chief Umesh Dushi informed TOI that inspector of Gokul Road police station wrote to the HDMC commissioner soliciting for to remove banners and buntings with the exception of those of a festival of a selected group. "Since it is Kartika Masa for Hindus, several programmes are organized throughout the month. If they remove banners and buntings of Hindu festivals and keep the same of another community untouched, it would be discrimination," he stated.

After our protest, the HDMC and the police assured of not removing the banners and buntings of Hindu festivals. We withdrew the protest after the assurance," he stated.
