Nippani out of taluk list, local activists call for bandh on Jan 3

Belagavi: Dropping the title of Nippani town from the preliminary notification giving it taluk standing has created a row. Various local organizations have given the government a cut-off date of January 2 to cross the brand new order, and referred to as for a Nippani bandh on January 3 and to dam the Pune-Bengaluru NH-Four.
Various organizations led by means of former MLA Subhash Joshi took out a protest rally within the town on Friday and submitted a memorandum to deputy tahasildar Neminath Gejji. CM Siddaramaiah announced three new taluks in Belagavi district -- Nippani, Mudalagi and Kagawad. However, Nippani has been dropped from the general gazette notification.

According to a memorandum, Nippani is the second greatest town within the district after Belagavi with a prime population density. It's one of the major industry and academic centres, because of which senior author Patil Puttappa advisable that it be made a district. Despite that, town is suffering to get taluk standing, which is unfortunate. The town already has many taluk government places of work.

According to a sources, 8 villages which fall below Chikkalawal, Walaki, Khadakalat, Navalihal and Pattanakudi gram panchayats in Chikkodi taluk and 14 villages falling below Bugute Alur, Hitni, Mattiwade, Kanagala, Bad and Kesti in Hukkeri taluk, wrote to the district authority to include them into the brand new Nippani taluk, but in useless. Though those villages are connected to Nippani geographically, the reorganization of taluks excludes from the proposed Nippani taluk.

This is said to be the rationale to stay the proposal of giving taluk standing to Nippani pending.

Farmer leader Subhash Joshi told newshounds that he would sit on indefinite strike if the government failed to declare taluk standing to Nippani earlier than January 2. Members of Nippani Bar Association participated within the protest.
