Vishva Hindu Parishad wants commission reports on Kandhamal riots to make public

BHUBANESWAR: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday demanded the state government to make the findings of each Panigrahy and Naidu Commission experiences public.

Justice Basudev Panigrahi inquiry commission have been set up to probe the 2007 rise up in Kandhamal district, while AS Naidu Commission probed the 2008 rise up in the same district.


"Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati was targeted in 2007 riot. Later he was killed in 2008. If necessary prompt actions were taken after the initial attacks in 2007, the murder could have been avoided," stated Badrinath Pattnaik, working president of VHP's east Odisha zone, at a press meet here.


He stated the folks must know the findings of each the commissions to get the truth in the back of the riots. "It is unfortunate that murderers of Laxmanananda are roaming freely even after 10 years. They should be booked under law," he added.


VHP's international secretary Surendra Jain demanded CBI probe into the seer homicide case. "We condemn the state government's ineptness in arresting the murderers. The state should stop conversion of Hindus," he added.
