17 Indian fishermen arrested in Pakistan

KARACHI: Seventeen Indian fishermen have been arrested for allegedly illegally fishing in Pakistani waters and a courtroom here remanded them into custody today.
A police official on the docks police station has stated the Indian nationals gave the impression prior to a Justice of the Peace who sent them to prison on remand.

"These fishermen were passed over to us via the Maritime Security closing night time for further prison procedure," he stated.

He stated lots of the fishermen belonged to Gujarat.

The 17 Indian fishermen were arrested for fishing in Pakistan's territorial waters, according to the Maritime Security Force.

"They were fishing in the Arabian sea in our territory and they were detained and their three boats seized," he stated.

The arrests come after the discharge of 145 Indian fishermen on December 28.


An official of the Pakistan Maritime Security Force stated that since late November the collection of Indian fishermen detained for fishing in Pakistani waters was once round 185.


A complete of 438 Indian fishermen were released in 12 days time in December 2016-January 2017 via the Pakistani government from the Landhi and Malir jails in Karachi.


Pakistan and India incessantly arrest fishermen as there is no clear demarcation of the maritime border within the Arabian Sea and those fishermen would not have boats equipped with the technology to understand their actual location.
