Biz bodies give Rs 50L for water scheme in Tirupur

Tirupur: Following a request from town company, a couple of business organisations have come forwarded to give Rs 50 lakh for the fourth water scheme.

Tirupur municipality was upgraded as company and six villages in the surrounding areas had been annexed. The company has been suffering to provide water to these areas with the existing three water schemes. "So, the state government has approved the fourth water scheme at a cost of Rs 834 crore, which would be contributed by the central and state governments," said an professional.


"Though funds were provided for purchasing land, as per the guidelines, the landowners need to be paid at market price. So, about Rs 3 crore of extra funds are required for purchasing the land. Hence, the business community was invited to contribute to the scheme," said a corporation professional.


The civic body together with native MLAs held a session assembly with the representatives of various industry our bodies recently. The industry our bodies, which may well be benefitted indirectly due to the scheme, have formed a committee to assemble the desired budget. So a long way, they have got agreed to give Rs 50 lakh, the professional added.


As the civic body has acquired the desired clearances for the project, it's anticipated to be started soon. The company has decided on six acres close to Bhavani River in Mettupalayam for putting in place a pumping station for the project, said the next company professional.
