'Rape' survivor commits suicide in Odisha's Koraput district

BHUBANESWAR: Nearly two months after the state police disregarded the sensational gangrape allegation of a 14-year-old schoolgirl against 4 uniformed security workforce in Maoist-hit Koraput district, the alleged rape survivor dedicated suicide at her village on Monday.


"I have asked the Koraput SP to find out the circumstances leading to her death," director normal of police R P Sharma mentioned. Her family blamed the police for hushing up the case. "My daughter had been suffering the trauma after being raped by four security personnel on October 10, 2017. We received a jolt when the police in November last year said she was not raped," her mother mentioned. Opposition Congress, BJP and social activists too were important against the police. The political events alleged the police purposely suppressed the case to defend their ilk.


On December 29, 2017, the victim had come to Bhubaneswar to take part in an match where she dropped a bombshell and pointed arms at some senior police workforce, accusing them of making an attempt to bribe her. She had then alleged the police workforce tortured her and careworn her to withdraw her criticism.


Amidst public hue and cry, the state govt had then ordered dual probes--Crime Branch and judicial--to find out the reality. Police, citing the scientific exam file, mentioned the woman used to be no longer subjected to any sexual intercourse or sodomy, as alleged via her, both forceful or consensual, on October 10. Police mentioned the chemical or forensic exam of her clothes did not indicate any proof of sexual intercourse.
