Rs 25.76 lakh fund to bring startup ideas to life

COIMBATORE: A option to cut back gas consumption whilst drying cardamom and gear that may make harvesting of carrots more uncomplicated were some of the startup ideas that together gained a give a boost to grant of Rs 25.76 lakh on Tuesday under the dep. of science and technology’s Nidhi Prayas scheme. The initiatives gained the grant during the science and technology entrepreneurial park (Step) of the PSG College of Technology.

Okay Uthaya Kumar, who comes from an agricultural background, was given a grant of Rs 7.6 lakh for his cardamom electric dryer, which could work in solar energy too. Uthaya Kumar stated he got the theory when he saw how inefficient the present drying way was. “Producers were using firewood to heat cardamom to take away moisture. This procedure takes time and energy. Also, in the procedure, the oil content of cardamom would evaporate, resulting in weight loss. The way I have devised retains cardamom’s oil content. Trial runs have proven that the process reduces processing price upto 80% and time upto 50%,” he stated.


P Avinash, an engineering graduate, has advanced an apparatus to ease the process of harvesting carrot. An attachment in the tractor loosens the soil using a fork and pulls carrots using the rolling belt mechanism. “By this procedure, carrots are harvested and picked up in a bag immediately,” he stated. The project gained a grant of Rs nine.5 lakh.


Another innovation, ‘Save Mom’, an interactive health wearable, which goes with an AI-enabled cell utility, helps pregnant girls keep track of their health routine, was sanctioned a grant of Rs 8.66 lakh.


Along with these, ‘Sportiv’, a cell and web app advanced by means of Geetha Karthik, a former IT professional, was granted a fellowship under the ‘entrepreneur in place of dwelling’ programme. She would get Rs 30,000 a month for additional analysis. Geetha stated the app seeks to create a virtual profile of native sportspeople and fasten them to sponsors.
