3 Class XI students drown in stone quarry

Tirupur: Three Class XI students, who left their homes in the pretext of getting workforce learn about, were drowned whilst taking tub in a rainwater-filled stone quarry close to Mangalam right here on Friday.
The sufferers were identified as S Sameer Khan, 16, of Arivolinagar in Palladam; R Sudarsan, 16, of Bharathipuram in Iduvai; and T Manoharan, 17, of Annamalai Garden. The 3 were Class XI students of a personal school at Iduvampalayam, mentioned a police officer.

“Since it was once a learn about holiday for them, the 3 instructed their parents that they were going out for a gaggle learn about. But they went to take tub in a stone quarry at 63 Velampalayam. They were joined by means of four other classmates,” the officer mentioned.


While they were taking tub, one in all them allegedly ventured deep into rainwater-filled quarry. Hearing him cry for help, the other two attempted to avoid wasting him. But the trio drowned.


As the remaining shouted for help, native residents reached the spot and alerted Palladam fire and rescue services and products workforce, who retrieved the our bodies after two hours of battle.


“It was once an deserted stone quarry with none fence to prevent trespassers. Half of the 80-ft stone quarry was once full of rainwater,” the police officer mentioned. TNN
