Aadhaar seeding with voters ID will resume, says CEC OP Rawat

BENGALURU: The chief election commissioner Om Prakash Rawat on Saturday mentioned the fee will resume the seeding of Aadhaar with the citizens ID, which was topped in 2015.

Rawat, who was in Bengaluru to attend the 14th annual conference of the ADR at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), mentioned the election fee had already seeded 32 crore EPICs with Aadhaar cards till date.


“But with the Supreme Court hearing the instances on Aadhaar validity, we had stopped the seeding procedure. But now, with a number of government schemes being connected and the SC permitting the similar, we can document an application on the apex court docket to seed it with citizens ID,” mentioned Rawat.


The CEC mentioned there are over 52 crore EPICs which can be yet to be seeded in the nation.


Meanwhile, Rawat admitted that despite their countermanding as many as three Assembly constituencies due to heavy use of money throughout polls there has been no relenting.


“Despite our absolute best efforts with warnings by the use of countermanding elections in three or four Assembly constituencies the usage of cash has been rising and it's unabated,” he mentioned.
