Chidambaram calls Modi govt claim of 100% electrification 'complete jumla'

NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Monday stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's declare of accomplishing 100 in step with cent village electrification is a "complete jumla" and accused him of taking credit score for paintings accomplished by way of the previous regimes.

Stating that there are some 5.97 lakh villages within the nation, Chidambaram accused the Modi govt of taking credit score for entire rural electrification despite the fact that the UPA govt electrified lakhs of villages within the nation throughout 2004-2014.

Chidambaram stated the Youth Congress participants must ask the Prime Minister thru social media about who electrified 5.80 lakh villages within the nation.

He also attacked Modi govt for "destroying" jobs with measures like demonetisation and GST, claiming the 2 steps ended in "massive" unemployment within the nation.


"This government completely killed demand. What little remained was killed by demonestisation, what little enterprise was there, was killed by the GST. Demonetisation and GST practically killed all micro, bulk of small and at least 40 percent of the medium industries and thousands and thousands of jobs were destroyed," he stated.
