MUMBAI: Low-cost service AirAsia India on Wednesday introduced the exit of Amar Abrol as its MD & CEO, making him the second top-rung official to deboard the service in slightly over two years.
Abrol will step down subsequent month and go back to the mum or dad corporate in Malaysia, the airline mentioned in a commentary.
The first CEO and MD of the Tatas-controlled airline Mittu Chandilya had also left the airline swiftly in February 2016 after serving it for not up to two years.
"Abrol will be moving back to the AirAsia Group headquarters in Malaysia to work on group strategic projects effective June 2018," AirAsia India mentioned.
The exit of Abrol comes days after its greater rival IndiGo mentioned that its president and whole-time director Aditya Ghosh would step down from the location in July.
Abrol, in step with the airline, had expressed his want to return to Malaysia to be closer to his circle of relatives.
The three way partnership of the Malaysia-based AirAsia Group and Tata Sons - the place the latter has controlling stake - started operations in June 2014 with just one aircraft.
Abrol's departure also comes at a time when the airline is waitng within the wings to fly out of the country and has chalked out its plans to go public.
During Abrol's time, AirAsia has expanded its fleet to 18 airplane from six and the folk and network by way of three-folds.
The Bengaluru-based airline, which had reported its first profit in December 2017, will likely be finishing four years subsequent month.
The airline now connects 19 towns, together with Kochi, Goa, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Pune, Guwahati, Imphal, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Srinagar, Bagdogra, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Nagpur, Indore and Chennai from its three bases of Bengaluru, New Delhi and Kolkatta.
