Andheri hotel denies an unmarried couple room

MUMBAI: An Indian girl and her South American boyfriend, each postgrads from a prestigious UK school, had been denied admission to a budget hotel at Andheri (West) on Saturday after the hotel workforce found that they weren't married.
The couple had been also not refunded the volume that they had paid online for reserving a room months in advance. They had been advised the hotel has a 'no-couples coverage’.

FabHotel Panchvati Residency is a franchise of the FabHotels chain, which used to be based in 2014 by an IIT alumnus and a Wharton graduate. It gained $25 million in investment last yr from a number one world making an investment bank. The couple met while pursuing masters degrees in the United Kingdom.

The girl, elderly 23, is from Delhi. Her boyfriend is 31. A few months in the past, they decided to vacation in India. “This is his first go back and forth to India,” the woman said. The couple took a cab from the airport and reached the hotel around midday on Saturday and produced their ID playing cards on the front table. “The workforce checked out us and said we couldn’t be allowed to stay as we had been a couple.

They pointed to a sign on the front table which said that couples weren’t allowed. I used to be taken aback. Before Mumbai, my boyfriend and I have been to Delhi, Jaipur and Udaipur, but we didn't face any issues on the hotels there. We have checked that there is no law in any state of India prohibiting unmarried couples from reserving a hotel room,” the woman said.

A FabHotels spokesperson said, “It seems that the spouse hotel in query used to be following its rule that also is mentioned on the website on the time of reserving. We acknowledge that the situation may have led to inconvenience for the guests. We will try and help them in any way we can.”
