Cops to rope in Israel firm to gather CCTV evidence in parcel bomb case

BHUBANESWAR: The state Crime Branch is making plans to rope in an company in Israel to retrieve CCTV pictures of a Raipur-based courier firm from where English lecturer Punjilal Meher had allegedly sent a parcel bomb to the house of his colleague, Sanjukta Sahoo at Patnagarh in February. Meher was once arrested on April 26 for making plans and executing the parcel blast that killed Sanjukta’s newly wed son Soumyasekhar and mother-in-law Jemamani on February 23.

Crime Branch mentioned the courier firm’s CCTV exhausting disk didn't have high storage capacity. “We are on the lookout for an auto-rickshaw driver, who transported Meher to the courier store on February 15. Meher took the plea of his illness and sent the driver to dispatch the consignment to Patnagarh. When we scanned the CCTV pictures, lets not get the visuals of the actual day,” a Crime Branch officer mentioned, including “We contacted some experts within the country, however failed to retrieve the CCTV pictures. We also are in touch with an company in Israel that confident us to retrieve the two-month-old pictures.”


Asked why Israel, the officer mentioned products and services of such nature are the best within the country. The officer didn't disclose whether or not the company is a government investigating unit in Israel. “We (state govt) are in a position to pay for the retrieval of the CCTV pictures. Once retrieved, we can track the driver. It will paintings as a forged evidence in opposition to Meher,” the officer mentioned.


Crime Branch mentioned they are going to also send Meher’s pc and a few other digital devices to Gujarat state forensic science laboratory in Gandhinagar to retrieve some data. “We came to understand that the Gandhinagar laboratory has just right generation to retrieve outdated data. We will even use newest generation (ninhydrin) to track fingerprint of Meher on a letter and envelope,” the officer mentioned.
