Coimbatore: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Coimbatore, has registered a disproportionate property case against Dr V Elango, 57, professor of surgical operation on the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, and his spouse P Mallika, 56, who is working as junior engineer in Chennai.
According to the DVAC, the couple is in possession of pecuniary resources and properties disproportionate to their recognized source of income.

The inspector of police, DVAC, Coimbatore, M Kanagasabapathy, registered a case against the couple on May 25 below sections 13 (2) learn with 12 (1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to DVAC, Mallika used to be working as junior engineer on the administrative center of the divisional engineer, National Highways, Coimbatore, since January 1, 2008. She hailed from Aarani in Thiruvannamalai district and she or he were given married to Dr V Elango in 1984. The couple has two sons.

Mallika joined in the govt service as an assistant draftsman on the administrative center of divisional engineer, highways, Coimbatore division on November 21, 1981. She used to be promoted to junior drafting officer on January 30, 1997 and later she used to be promoted as junior engineer in 2010.

The couple used to be in possession of pecuniary resources to the track of Rs 44.89 lakh in their name and in names in their family members as on January 1, 2008. It used to be the beginning of the test period.

The couple had received income from the lawful sources to the track of Rs 1.97 crore and incurred expenses to the track of Rs 1.35 crore all through the test period. They can have stored Rs 61.79 lakh in the same period. However, the couple has obtained properties to the track of Rs 1.52 crore all through the test period.


But the couple is in possession and acquired pecuniary resources and properties to the track of Rs 90.51 lakh, which is disproportionate to their recognized source of income all through the test period.
