I-T sleuths raid resort linked to Congress candidate

BENGALURU: With just 4 days left for the polls, the Congress leaders on Tuesday aroused from sleep to a impolite shock as Income tax sleuths raided a resort in Badami in Bagalkot district, about 450 km from Bengaluru where they had been staying for campaigning.

The resort is related to mining baron and former BJP MLA, Anand Singh who joined the Congress not too long ago to contest from Vijayanagara constituency in Ballari district.


The I-T officials raided the resort within the wee hours and endured till Tuesday afternoon.


Badami, is one of the two constituencies through which Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is contesting from aside from Chamundeshwari in his house district Mysuru.


During the raid on the resort, KPCC operating president S R Patil, MLC C M Ibrahim and some other senior leaders had been staying on the resort. Siddaramaiah had additionally stayed within the resort when he had come for campaigning within the constituency not too long ago and had left to Mysuru yesterday.


Reacting to the raids, Chief minister Siddaramaiah accused the PM Narendra Modi and BJP leader Amit Shah of concentrated on him and the Congress via misusing IT sleuths. "Modi and Shah wants to threaten me using the IT department but they will not succeed," he added.
