JNU prof booked for assaulting woman student

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has registered a case towards a Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) professor for allegedly assaulting a lady scholar.


The incident comes a month after any other JNU professor Atul Johri was booked for sexually harassing 8 women students on the varsity. He was due to this fact arrested and granted bail.

A town police reliable stated an FIR was registered towards Prof Rajbir Singh on May 2 following a grievance by means of a lady scholar.


The complainant alleged that she had long past to talk to Singh on February 9 and was waiting out of doors his chamber. She alleged that the professor thrashed her and any other male scholar who came to lend a hand her, the police stated.


Meanwhile, the professor has filed a counter grievance alleging that he was manhandled and stopped from getting into his chamber by means of some students, they stated.


The police added that the incident came about when the students have been protesting towards the management for introducing 75 according to cent obligatory attendance.
