MUMBAI: India's Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will release the country's first crude oil choices contract on May 15, the change mentioned in a remark on Tuesday.
Two contracts expiring on June 15 and July 17 with lot size of 100 barrel will probably be launched next week, the change mentioned.
India is the sector's third-biggest shopper of crude oil. Crude oil futures contracts had been most traded on the change platform in 2017/18 fiscal yr ended on March 31.
The choice contract will provide the physical market participants an extra instrument to hedge their chance, mentioned Mrugank Paranjape, managing director of MCX.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India has approved the choices contract last week, the change added.
