Sanitary workers refuse to shift to housing units

Coimbatore: In a setback to the construction of Ukkadam flyover, the resettlement of greater than 300 sanitary workers residing at Athupalam and Ukkadam could also be delayed additional.
The sanitary workers submitted a petition to the nationwide commission of safai karamcharis declaring that they would not shift to Kovai Pudur and Vellalore housing units as they're greater than 12km clear of their current location.

The residents were issued notices to vacate their homes and feature been provided change homes at Kovai Pudur and Vellalore housing units constructed by way of the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board.

He instructed the officers to search for another land for the sanitary workers inside the city.

He added that the workers would now not shift a long way clear of the town.
