Big cats from Madhya Pradesh to arrive by road, not air

BHUBANESWAR: The natural world wing of the wooded area division has rejected the option of transporting through air three pairs of Royal Bengal Tigers from Madhya Pradesh. The tigers, which will arrive in Satkosia from Kanha, Panna and Bandhavgarh sanctuaries, will be introduced by means of road.
The six tigers will be introduced in levels in a 'carnivore rescue vehicle'. The resolution was taken through the federal government after a number of rounds of debate with the wooded area officials of MP.

The govt decided to drop the air shipping option on the grounds of feasibility. Forest officials mentioned the helicopter that would were hired to transport the animals would have needed to wait till the tigers were captured and tranquillized.

"It would have been hard to keep the expensive choppers idling. It is easier to deal with truck-like vehicles as we can simply call for them within hours of capturing and darting the animals. No one knows how many hours, or even days, it may take to capture the big cats," mentioned a wooded area officer.

"The tigers can be monitored throughout the journey if brought by road," important chief conservator of forests (natural world) Sandip Tripathi mentioned. The carnivore rescue vehicle could have a medical package and a cage. "Wildlife personnel and veterinary doctors can sit inside the vehicle as there will be sufficient space for them," he added.

The wooded area division were taking into consideration the air shipment technique to save time in transportation. The translocation process will begin in the 3rd week of June, when the first tiger will be introduced here on a trial foundation. Once it is settled, the rest tigers will be introduced here.

The wooded area division has now not disclosed the portion of Satkosia's core the place the tigers will be launched. "The location will never be disclosed. It will be kept secret as far as possible," an legitimate had previous mentioned.
