CUTTACK: The huge amount black cash seized from Maoist leaders across the nation has turned a reason of shock, said Justice Arijit Pasayat, vice-chairman of the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black cash.
Justice Pasayat, who chaired a high level assembly of the SIT in Cuttack on Saturday shared his views after the assembly. He said that in previous couple of months enforcement directorate and directorate of earnings intelligence (DRI) have seized large amount of unlawful cash from Maoist leaders in different parts of the country and an in depth investigation will be began on this regard.
“A detailed probe will be introduced in connection with seizure of the black cash from Maoists,” said Pasayat.
Justice Pasayat said the Maoists are incomes unlawful cash by smuggling ganja . Many such consignments had been nabbed from trains in different parts of the country like Kolkata, Punjab. “Probe reveals that the ganja consignment was smuggled from Malkangiri and different far flung spaces of Odisha. The maoists are collecting black cash thru such unlawful activities. The DRI has been asked to probe the problem thoroughly,” said Pasayat.
Apart from Maoists cash path, within the assembly Justice Pasayat also discussed concerning the progress made in attaching the properties of self-proclaimed godmen Sarathi, Sura and gangster Dhalasamanta brothers, who have been arrested for various crimes.
On the instance, Justice Pasayat also informed that SIT has already submitted its 6th file on black cash to the Supreme Court. Officials of various departments like DRI, Crime department, vigilance, source of revenue tax, enforcement directorate and mines department participated within the high level assembly. Pasayat reviewed the progress of investigation in terms of different circumstances of money swindling and tested the inquiry by investigating agencies involved to unravel the same.
