Introspect why admissions in govt engg colleges are falling: GT Devegowda

Belagavi: Principals and professors in executive and aided engineering schools must introspect why admissions are going down in their establishments, whilst students are queueing up to join private schools, stated Higher training minister G T Devegowda.
Speaking at the 20th Foundation Day of VTU right here on Friday, the minister stated private engineering establishments are doing smartly regardless of paying lesser salaries to professors, when compared with professors in executive schools. He requested VTU V-C Karisiddappa to appear into the matter seriously

There is a need to focal point on upper training, he stated, adding that handiest 25% of Indian students sign up in upper training classes when in comparison to 75% in evolved nations.

Special focal point must be given to encouraging ladies to get into upper training, he added.

The minister stated he has already spoken to leader minister H D Kumaraswamy about implementing the seventh Pay Commission to executive staff and filling vacant professor and predominant posts in executive schools.

‘No rift in coalition’

On the side-lines of the programme, Devegowda informed newshounds that there's no rift between JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda and former leader minister Siddaramaiah. He added that the the Congress chief has given the nod to table a fresh budget.

When requested to remark on the allegation that injustice used to be meted out to north Karnataka during cabinet formation, he stated priority will probably be given to the area in the cabinet growth.

The Congress has proven its wisdom via holding six cabinet berths vacant, Devegowda added.
