Hubballi: Members had been elected to 4 standing committees of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) at an election held here on Wednesday. A complete of 28 individuals had been elected to the committees.
The election used to be held in the presence of regional commissioner P A Meghannavar and individuals had been elected to the Taxation, Finance and Appeals Standing Committee, Town making plans & Development Standing Committee, Public Health, Education and Social Law Standing Committee and Accounts Standing Committees
Corporator Yasin Haverpet, who filed the nomination to the Taxation, Finance and Appeals, Standing Committee, Veeranna Savadi, who filed nomination to the Public Heath, Education and Social Law Standing Committee, withdrew their papers. Of the 76 individuals, 58 took part in the election and the others had been absent.
Corporators Sudha Manikuntla, Raghunath Lakkannavar, Ratna Patil, Ramappa Badiger, Honnappa Arakeri, Anasuya Cholappanavar and Lakshman Gandagalekar had been elected unopposed to the Taxation, Finance and Appeals Standing Committee.
Corporarors Famida Killedar, Shivanand Muttannavar, Lakshmibai Bijawada, Survarna Kallakuntla, Shankar Shelke, Rabia Begum Amatur and Beerappa Khandekar had been elected unanimously to the Public Health, Education and Social Law Standing Committee.
Corporators Rajanna Koravi, Prakash Kyarakatti, Deepa Gauri, Balaram Kusugal, Lakshmi Uppar, Kamalakshi Sajjanavar and Panduranga Patill had been elected to the Town making plans & Development Standing Committee. Corporators Sanjay Kapatakar, Ashwini Majjagi, Leena Miskin, Nirmala Javali, Subhas Shinde, Manjunath Chittaginjala and Shaila Kamaraddi had been elected unopposed to the Accounts Standing Committee.
Assistant commissioner Gangubai Mankar, HDMC commissioner Shakil Ahmed, Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi, MLAs Arvind Bellad, Amrut Desai and S V Sankanur had been provide.
Dharwad neglected?
After the elections corporator Yasin Haverpet alleged that most effective corporators from Hubballi were given choice through the leaders of BJP, Congress and JD(S) and none from Dharwad had been not noted.
