CHENNAI: Agriculture scientist M S Swaminathan was once on Wednesday conferred the Doctor of Letters degree via ITM University, Gwalior, for his pioneering contributions to sustainable agriculture and world food safety.
This was once the 84th honorary doctorate received via the 92-year-old geneticist, including 24 from global establishments. He was once given the award at a distinct convocation held on the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation premises in Taramani.
Dr Kamal Kant Dwivedi, vice chancellor of ITM University, Gwalior, offered the degree to Swaminathan.
“Zero starvation may also be accomplished only via sustainable agriculture,” Swaminathan said in his acceptance speech.
He expressed his pleasure over the fact that ITM University had produced 1,000 agricultural degree holders.
