Pakistani Hindus to get Indian citizenship in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: In an important step, Ahmedabad collector Vikrant Pandey will hand over citizenship paperwork to 90 applicants from Ahmedabad on Friday. A majority are Hindus from Pakistan. These applicants are classified as minorities in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

In all, Ahmedabad district leads in the nation in granting citizenships certificate; 320 individuals have were given them so far, a majority of whom are Hindus from Pakistan.


An official unlock from Ahmedabad collectorate states:“As according to a gazette of the Indian Government dated December 23, 2016, district creditors of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kutch had been empowered to confer citizenship on minority communities of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan (Hindu, Jains, Parsi, Sikh, Buddhists, and Christians) inside two years of the gazette (notification).”


Between July and November closing yr, a number of Hindus and Sindhi neighborhood individuals from Pakistan have been granted Indian citizenship.
