BENGALURU: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah looked as if it would have the higher hand in the first coordination committee meeting here on Thursday, because the panel resolved that the JD(S)-Congress coalition executive, headed through chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, will continue all of his executive’s flagship schemes and put into effect the promises he had made in his February 2018 budget.
Siddaramaiah chaired the meeting, which was once attended through Kumaraswamy, deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, AICC basic secretary Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal and JD(S) national secretary basic Danish Ali.
“The meeting resolved to continue all our flagship schemes and put into effect all the programmes announced in the budget 2018-19,” Siddaramaiah said after the hour-long meeting. When TOI sought to grasp whether or not the schemes that will be continued includes the debatable loose bus cross scheme announced for college students from primary college to post-graduate students, Siddaramaiah shot back: “When I say budget promises, it includes the entirety. I needn't specify every unmarried programme.”
Siddaramaiah printed the five-member panel also agreed to fill a minimum of 30 chairpersons posts in boards and companies within the subsequent 10 days. Like ministerial berths, he said, these posts will be shared between Congress and JD(S) in 2:1 ratio. Of the total 82 boards and companies, the Congress will get 55 of those statutory our bodies. The Congress chairpersons will experience cabinet or minister of state rank.
One of the contributors of the panel, on situation of anonymity, said Kumarswamy on the meeting insisted that they temporarily fill all the vacancies in boards and companies to quell dissidence actions because it was once hurting the image of the coalition executive. “It was once determined to supply a minimum of two key posts to supporters of former ministers H K Patil, M B Patil and Siddaramaiah and accommodate others in response to seniority and caste,” the member said.
Sources said the contributors discussed the right way to better coordination between the alliance partners. “We also discussed how the ministers can coordinate better and work for the overall construction of the state,” resources said.
