Coimbatore: Residents of spaces in and around the Peelamedu Railway Station protested on the station premises on Friday, demanding a subway running below the tracks, laying of service roads on both sides of the foot over bridge and service and relaying of their roads, which have been broken because of motion of heavy cars.
Residents of Murugan Nagar and HUDCO Colony mentioned that even though the station does have a foot over bridge, they find it tough to climb up and down carrying heavy luggage and baggage. “There is a ration shop on one side. Residents, who buy items from the store, find it tough to hold the items and climb up the stairs, particularly old other folks. So, they finally end up crossing the tracks,” client activist PV Gopal mentioned. “According to the unique plan, they have been meant to construct a 7ft prime and 16toes long subway. We need it right away,” he mentioned.
According to the protesters, the railway may be meant to put roads on each side of the foot over bridge. “While they have got obtained land and laid a 8ft extensive highway on one side, on the different side, the land for the undertaking is yet to be obtained. They have no longer even surveyed the area for laying the street,” Gopal mentioned.
The citizens also demanded that internal roads in the space must be relaid through the corporation right away. TNN
