Coimbatore: A lady tea estate worker was once killed by means of a leopard, which pounced on her, sank its sharp enamel into her neck and attempted to drag her into the tea plantation, whilst she was once washing her garments in front of the workforce quarters close to Valparai right here on Friday night.
The deceased was once identified as Kailasavathy, 50, of Kanjamalai tea estate. According to forest officers, the incident took place round 6.30pm when she was once washing her garments. “A leopard all of sudden attacked her and attempted to drag her inside the tea plantation. Seeing this, other staff rushed to the spot and chased away the leopard. However, they couldn’t save her,” an reputable said.
When alerted, Valparai forest officers sent the frame to the native government medical institution for postmortem.
The incident comes a day after a woman worker with Cinchona tea estate first division at Valparai was once attacked by means of a leopard, whilst she was once fetching consuming water from a public faucet on the worker quarters on Thursday night time. B Madavi, 36, had sustained injuries to her head and face within the incident. Following this, tea estate staff had staged a protest, challenging the forest department to seize the leopard(s).
Incidents of man-animal battle have been on the upward thrust at Valparai.
