City’s first Wi-Fi enabled public toilet to open tomorrow

COIMBATORE: The town’s first Wi-Fi enabled public rest room is getting ready for inauguration close to the Government Women’s Polytechnic College on Balasundaram Road on Sunday.

City corporation commissioner Ok Vijayakarthikeyan inspected the construction on Friday and directed the officers to arrange Wi-Fi facility there. “But the Wi-Fi can be used only for getting access to mail, flight and teach time table. People will be barred from downloading recordsdata and using video streaming applications,” a senior corporation legitimate advised TOI.


The civic body had constructed the Rs 98 lakh facility after demolishing an previous dilapidated rest room at the position. “The 4,200sqft free-to-use facility has 5 bogs and 3 bathrooms every for men and women. We have also arrange a garden in entrance of the bathroom,” the legitimate mentioned.


Maintenance of both the bathroom and the garden has been handed over to a personal firm. The firm has been allowed to show ads at the facility to earn income.
