Stone hits CM Edappadi K Palaniswami’s car, probe on

COIMBATORE: Senior police officers are investigating an incident wherein a stone hit leader minister Edappadi Ok Palaniswami’s automobile while he was travelling from Coimbatore to Salem on Wednesday evening, a couple of independent assets instructed TOI. However, the police officers declined to make an legitimate statement.
On Wednesday evening, the chief minister arrived at the Coimbatore International Airport from Chennai as a part of his travel plans to Salem to open the sluice gates of Mettur dam day after today.

After a temporary interaction with journalists, his convoy hit the road to Salem. When the convoy entered Tirupur district, a stone hit the CM’s automobile, stated the assets who travelled in the convoy.


The convoy was stopped instantly, and the chief minister was advised to travel in some other automobile for security reasons. A police crew began inquiries. Top officials from west zone held a gathering with the Tirupur district police officers on Wednesday evening. Police would examine whether or not the stone was aimed at the CM’s convoy and who had thrown it, stated the assets.


Confirming the incident, a senior police officer instructed TOI that a small stone rolled over from the tyre because of the velocity and hit the front windshield of the CM’s automobile. It is not the case of a person pelting the CM’s automobile with a stone.


Police presence along the Salem-Coimbatore stretch was reinforced as the chief minister travelled again at the path to take a flight to Chennai from Coimbatore airport on Thursday evening, as scheduled.
