KHOST: At least 20 other people had been killed and dozens extra wounded in a suicide attack on a Shiite mosque in japanese Afghanistan today, officials mentioned, caution that the toll may just rise.
"We have 20 people killed and around 50 others were wounded," General Raz Mohammad Mandozai, provincial police chief of Paktia province, near the Pakistan border, told AFP. A 2nd official mentioned there were no less than 70 dead and wounded in the attack.
The attack comes as city areas throughout Afghanistan have been rocked via an increasing number of attacks in contemporary months, with both the Islamic State (IS) and Taliban insurgents focused on security forces and government installations.
The Taliban has now not claimed a major attack in a city for weeks because it comes under higher power to comply with peace talks with the Afghan government.
But IS has performed more than one attacks in the japanese city of Jalalabad and the capital Kabul in contemporary months, focused on everything from government ministries to a midwife training centre.
Last month an IS suicide bomber blew himself up near Kabul world airport, killing 23 other people together with AFP driving force Mohammad Akhtar.
The higher attacks come as US and Afghan forces accentuate floor and air offensives in opposition to IS, and the Taliban step up their turf war with the crowd.
