JORHAT: BJP’s ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has made up our minds to move it on my own within the panchayat elections and may even pass on to fight the Lok Sabha elections on its own.
“We don't need energy at the cost of the pursuits of the indigenous people of Assam. We have made up our minds to fight on my own within the upcoming panchayat elections,” AGP president and agriculture minister Atul Bora said all through the party’s 34th basis day celebrations on Sunday. He added, “We have additionally made up our minds to contest the Lok Sabha election on my own if BJP continues to fortify the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.” The modification proposes citizenship for non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The declaration comes simply two days after BJP said it will retain its ties with all regional events in Assam for the approaching panchayat and Lok Sabha elections.
“A party that favours the bill is towards the indigenous people of Assam. We need to sever ties with them,” AGP founder-president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said. The two events had come in combination to form the government with fortify from Bodoland People’s Front in 2016.
