NEW DELHI: BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday accused the Kerala govt of undermining the spiritual beliefs of other folks and unleashing "cruelty" on Lord Ayyappa devotees.
Speaking on the inauguration of the brand new BJP district place of work in Kannur, Shah alleged that CPM-led Left govt is using the Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala to target the Lord Ayyappa devotees.
"I want to tell those who want to foment violence in the name of court judgement that there are various temples which run on different rules, norms, traditions and rituals. There are many temples in India where men are not allowed too," Shah said.
Shah said that BJP staff stand like a rock with the temple devotees.
"The BJP workers of Kerala will stand with the devotees of Ayyappa at all cost. I am here to warn the CM and the Communist government that do not create violence in the name of court judgment," he said.
Shah's Kerala talk over with assumes significance in the wake of huge protests in opposition to the state govt's resolution to put into effect the Supreme Court verdict permitting girls of all age teams into the Sabarimala temple.
The BJP in the state has prolonged complete beef up to the agitation led by devotees of Lord Ayyappa to offer protection to the age-old tradition of the shrine.
The state had witnessed massive protests from devotees at more than a few places, together with Sabarimala, Nilakkal and Pamba, in opposition to permitting girls of all ages to enter the shrine, the place the deity is 'Naishtika Brahmachari' (perennial celibate), when the temple was opened for per 30 days poojas from October 17-22.
