Nasa spacecraft makes closest approach to sun

CAPE CANAVERAL: Nasa’s Parker Solar Probe is now closer to the solar than any spacecraft has ever gotten.

Parker on Monday surpassed the document of 26.6 million miles (43 million kilometers) set through Helios-2 again in 1976. And it is going to stay getting closer to the solar until it flies throughout the corona, or outer environment, for the primary time next week, passing inside 15 million miles (24 million kilometers) of the solar surface.

Parker will make 24 shut approaches to the solar over the next seven years, coming inside simply 3.eight million miles (6 million kilometers). Launched in August, Parker is heading in the right direction to set any other document on Monday. It will surpass Helios-2’s pace document of 153,454 miles per hour (247,000 kilometers per hour), relative to the solar.
