1984 anti-Sikh riots case: Sajjan Kumar surrenders in Delhi court

NEW DELHI: Former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar on Monday surrendered ahead of a court here to serve the lifestyles sentence awarded to him by the Delhi High Court in connection with a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

He surrendered ahead of Metropolitan Magistrate Aditi Garg who directed that Kumar be lodged in Mandoli prison in northeast Delhi.

The court rejected Kumar's petition to be lodged within the high-security Tihar prison, but allowed his plea for safety and directed the police to take him to the jail in a separate vehicle.
