MUMBAI: The police aren't taking any chances in retaining Mumbai protected right through New Year celebrations. Police commissioner Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has urged at all 93 police stations in the town to hold out combing operations and marvel tests at motels, bars garages and resorts.
“Bar homeowners and bosses and motels had been advised to apply rules. Licences will probably be suspended if they violate the rules,” said DCP Manjunath Singe, also Mumbai police spokesperson. “Cops will even patrol the coastline in boats.”
While 5,000 CCTV cameras will monitor public places just like the Gateway of India, over 40,000 police officials will glance out for eve-teasers and criminals. Officials from the local armed police, rebellion regulate police, fast reaction staff, crime branch, visitors police and residential guards can also be deployed at Gateway of India, seashores like Girgaum, Dadar, Mahim, Juhu, Madh and Gorai, spiritual places and shops. “At crowded places, folks will probably be frisked by means of anti-sabotage teams,” said Singe. Meanwhile, the north-bound carriageway of NS Road, south-bound carriageway of Chhatrapati Shivaji Road against the Gateway, and Mount Mary Road, Kane Road, Pereira Road, St John Baptist Road in Bandra (W) will probably be closed for automobiles from Monday at 8pm until Tuesday 6am.
