50 kg ganja seized in Guwahati station last week

GUWAHATI: Government railway police (GRP) sleuths have seized round 50 kg ganja in a chain of operations over the past week. On Tuesday, two persons from Bihar had been nabbed right here while they had been allegedly seeking to smuggle round 10 kg of the contraband from Dimapur to Kanpur by the use of the Rajdhani Express.

GRP recognized the duo as Sudhanshu Kumar from Patna and Raju Ansari from Buxar. Both of them were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act.


Earlier on Saturday, GRP sleuths nabbed one Pappu Singh from Bihar's Bhojpur for allegedly seeking to smuggle round 25 kg ganja. He was once sporting the medicine from Dimapur to Ara in Bihar. Prior to it, on December 13, one Roke Mondal was once arrested on fees of smuggling round 12 kg ganja to West Bengal's Murshidabad.


HK Das, Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) right here, said, "With railway connectivity between the northeastern states growing over the years, the drug smugglers have been seen trying to exploit the railway routes."
