"He is fresh. He doesn't have vast experience. Be it Starc or Lyon, he will simply go (and bat) without any baggage. He went and fearlessly expressed himself," he stated.



With an impressive debut, the 27-year-old batsman has now turn into a leading one contender for an India opening slot.


"Mayank has already thrown his hat into the ring for the opening slot. He has given a clear message that he is also available. His knock came at the right time," the trainer stated.


Mayank and KL Rahul both play for Karnataka within the domestic circuit and started their cricketing adventure in combination.


"Both are amazing cricketers. Both started their cricketing career together," Muralidhar stated.


"Rahul is brilliant in defending and Mayank is a brilliant stroke player," the trainer signed off.
