PANAJI: The crime branch of Goa police has made up our minds to report a chargesheet towards NCP legislator and previous Congress PWD minister Churchill Alemao and PWD professional P T Parkar for alleged corruption in 258 tenders for street paintings and misappropriation funds to the music of Rs 300 crore.
Speaking to STOI, crime branch superintendent of police (SP) Karthik Kashyap said, “We have finished investigation within the case and can report the chargesheet next week towards Alemao and Parkar within the case.”
The first information report within the case was registered towards Alemao, Parkar and other executive officials and contractors.
Crime branch had registered a case beneath quite a lot of sections of Indian Penal Code and fees of corruption beneath Prevention of Corruption Act.
The FIR stated that the accused floated 13 brief mushy notices bearing on 258 street works as urgency works. Eighty-nine of these works (costing above Rs five lakh) were not printed in any newspaper, thereby taking away the chance of any festival between the prospective mushy applicants, which ended in non-sale of mushy bureaucracy and causing a loss to the exchequer and undue favour.
The special court docket for corruption had directed crime branch to investigate and report compliance report towards Alemao and Parkar for alleged corruption.
Former National Student Union of India (NSUI) president Sunil Kawthankar had approached the special court docket after Panaji police failed to sign in an FIR towards Alemao and Parkar for alleged corruption and forgery.
In 2011, Citizens Working Centre, a Margao-based NGO, had filed a case towards Parkar with the vigilance division for issuing 258 paintings orders without publishing mushy and alluring notices as required beneath Section 16 of the CPWD guide. The paintings orders were issued in 2009 and 2010.
A senior technical examiner of the vigilance division investigated the case and found the allegation to be true. In the report submitted to the additional director vigilance on June 14, 2011, the examiner really helpful that Parkar be avoided field tasks and be straight away posted to a non-sensitive place until he attains the age of superannuation.
