Mysuru: It seems as regardless that widening of the stately Irwin Road within the centre of the town is not likely to cross off as smoothly as the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) would have preferred. Days after the civic company started paintings on increasing the width of the road, residents on all sides of this busy thoroughfare have united underneath the banner of ‘Save Irwin Road Committee’.
The committee president Doddaswamy Gowda on Sunday highlighted the hazards that widening the road posed to the heritage structures lining it, and in its neighborhood corresponding to Chamaraja Technical Institute, Kalamma temple and Badi Masjid. “What is worse, widening this stretch of the road will only result in extra automobiles the usage of it, which will, in turn, result in increase in noise and air pollution ranges within the house. This may even adversely affect the ones visiting KR Hospital. The state government must study those issues closely before taking over any such mission,” Gowda stated.
Mahesh Kumar, who owns a building at the road, stated that a memorandum that sought to suspend the mission that residents along the road had submitted to the MCC commissioner and deputy commissioner had elicited no reaction. “If the government does no longer forestall the mission instantly, we can release a hunger strike quickly,” Kumar stated.
Two other contributors of the committee PR Somanna and Raghuveer have been amongst those who attended the click convention.
