Street vending is a known sub-sector of the casual economic system, offering city employment to many. Yet, it's seen as a public nuisance and misuse of public space by means of planners due to the chaos it brings. This is the reason many citizens oppose proliferation of vendors in their neighborhood. Traders are towards it because it takes away their industry. However, vendors and shop house owners largely cater to other sections and compliment every other. The authorities must undertake the center path and allocate vending websites equally.

Sector 22 has 970 registered vendors, of which 117 will probably be allocated space within the sector and the remainder 853 will probably be resettled in other places.

Vendors will affect our industry: Association president

Only 85 vendors will probably be given areas towards the 348 registered ones in Sector 19 and the remaining 263 will pass elsewhere. Similar would be the case in and round a dozen key markets, together with the ones of sectors 21, 32, 35, 40, 45, Manimajra, Mauli Jagran and Dadumajra.

The marketplace associations and investors of those markets had held protests, both in collaboration with the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, an umbrella frame of investors, or independently.

“Constant protests by means of investors of the important thing markets was quite sudden for us, as we were making efforts to resettle minimal vendors in these areas. All the important thing markets of the town have various unregistered vendors who won't get space anywhere. Out of the registered ones, most will probably be resettled in other areas. Then why such hue and cry by means of investors? It turns out political events and internal politics of markets have been at work to get receive advantages out of the issue,” said an officer of the MC.

Anil Vohra, president of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, said, “We strongly feel vendors will affect our industry. They promote duplicate stuff at much cheaper rates. Business of investors is already struggling due to a couple of issues. We are paying more than a few taxes to the authorities and vendors need all amenities without paying anything else.”

Rampal, a consultant of vendors in town vending committee, said, “We will have to get our proper of livelihood in the precise spirit of the Street Vendors Act. Many of our issues are not yet settled. We plan to release an agitation quickly.”

Sectors 1 to 6 and Sector 17 have been stored beneath the no-vending zone class. Sources in MC said as these areas fall beneath Heritage Grade-1, not one of the vendors excluding the essential provider providers and the cell ones will probably be allowed there.
