Dozen vehicles set a fire at Nashik colony

NASHIK: About 12 cars, most commonly two-wheelers used for patrolling, had been set ablaze in the Nehru Nagar Colony in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The incident passed off at around 2 am in development numbers 2 and 16 in the Nehru Nagar Colony – the central govt colony that houses Currency Note Press (CNP), India Security Press (ISP) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawans and their households.

About 10 two-wheelers and two cars had stuck fireplace in Nehru Nagar Colony. Residents spotted the cars on fireplace when the flames and smoke unfold throughout the space. A case has been registered at Upnagar police station, in Nashik Road.

Sanjay Kumar Bansode, one of the crucial CISF team of workers, who registered the case with Upnagar police station, said the cars had been set ablaze after throwing some inflammable liquid on them.

The Upnagar police station said four of the 10 two-wheelers burnt belonged to CISF as they had been used for patrolling by way of the personal, who are in command of security affairs of ISP and CNP. Police said that they rushed groups of forensic professionals to the spot to assemble samples of the charred cars and the studies are awaited.


“Right now, it will be tricky to come to any conclusion whether or not some inflammable liquid used to be sprayed or no longer and if the cars stuck fireplace accidentally or it used to be the handiwork of any person. The studies by way of the forensic division will give us leads for the route of the investigations,” the police said.


All the cars have been taken to Upanagar police station. Citizens are difficult strict motion towards these miscreants.


“Nashik has been infamous for such incidents. In reality, burning of cars in CIDCO space of Nashik around 2012-13, began this tradition. It used to be later replicated in Pune, Thane and other areas. This should be stopped and the culprits should be booked with strictest punishment given to them,” Sanjeevani Kamble, resident of Nashik Road, said.
