K'taka: Lizard in food, 6 taken ill at boys’ home

BENGALURU: After a lizard used to be found within the dinner served at Bala Mandir, the Karnataka executive’s boys’ remark house at Hombegowda Nagar, 103 youngsters were rushed to clinic on Sunday night.

Officers in command of the remark house said many youngsters complained of stomachache and vomiting following which they were taken to Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health in Siddapura. Officers from the dept of women and kid development on Monday carried out a initial inquiry into the incident.


“Six youngsters were identified with meals poisoning, and the remaining panicked. After checkup, they were saved beneath remark,” said the resident clinical officer of the health facility.

Of the six youngsters, 3 were identified with gastroenteritis. All of them will be discharged quickly,” said the resident clinical officer of the health facility.


According to Tanusree Debbarma, director (kid coverage), department of women and kid development, a child spotted the lizard within the sambar served for dinner around eight.30pm on Sunday. “We, then, rushed the kids to a nearby clinic,” the director informed TOI, including that an investigation will be carried out into the incident.
