NAGPUR: Having failed to provide contract to a selected personal agency, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) town transport division has cancelled the soft for giving commercial rights on 387 Red buses. The decision has been taken even as NMC’s criminal division has recommended to open bids won for the soft.
The controversy over the soft is causing financial loss to the cash-strapped civic body. The new town bus carrier — Aapli Bus — launched in December 2016 is dealing with a financial lack of over Rs100 crore in step with annum. The civic body is delaying fee to the three operators, programme manager DIMTS and two ticketing businesses every month. Despite those issues, the city transport division has not given commercial rights on buses for the ultimate two years.
The soft procedure was once initiated six months ago and cancelled on December 31 ultimate yr. The controversy began after bid of Om Advertisers, having commercial rights of buses of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) around the state, was once not approved despite the fact that an afternoon was once remaining for the time limit. The agency filed a petition in the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court levelling serious allegations in opposition to the NMC. The bid was once approved following HC directive.
