MANGALURU: Even because the ministry of railways is pushing for vacuum bio-toilets in all coaches, Palakkad department of Southern Railway (SR) has retrofitted all 552 coaches owned through it with bio-toilets.

SR has outsourced sanitisation contracts, together with cleaning of manner roads, circulating spaces and station premises thru mechanised cleaning at common durations, Shami stated.


Giving higher thrust to overall hygiene and cleanliness on their premises, the department and SR along with bio-toilets, is operating towards offering On Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS). OBHS has been equipped on board as many as 102 trains of the zonal railway to ensure cleanliness and hygiene of coaches in working trains. This will be supplemented through trainer mitra that has been offered in all of the 102 trains covered below OBHS.


Coach Mitras maintain lawsuits on linen, water availability, small repairs, pest keep watch over/ disinfectants, besides trainer cleaning necessities, Shami stated, adding passengers want to text their lawsuits to coach mitra dedicated helpline quantity 9821736069 bringing up their PNR quantity.
