NOIDA: Four men, who allegedly kidnapped their landlord and smothered him with a pillow after soliciting a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his family, have been arrested in Greater Noida, police said on Monday.
They had been hung on Sunday evening close to Jalpura village in Greater Noida, they said.
The main accused was once peeved over repeated demands from his landlord for a pending hire of Rs 50,000 and had subsequently planned the killing together with his aides -– all of them dwelling as tenants in Aimnabad village, consistent with the police.
On February 22, Vijaypal Singh, 45, had left home for a wedding but didn't return till late within the night time when his family approached the Bisrakh police and a lacking grievance was once lodged.
The family were given a ransom name of Rs 10 lakh day after today and they once more reached out to the police after which an FIR was once registered on February 24. The name was once made from the cell phone of Singh, a senior reliable said.
The grievance was once made by Singh's elder brother Udayveer, who had named the tenants Alok Shivhare, Dheeraj Narayan, Sunny Kumar alias Raju Diwakar and Rakesh Pal as suspects, the reliable.
"The involvement of these four men emerged during interrogation by the police and they were subsequently arrested," Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Vaibhav Krishna said.
The accused had referred to as Singh for a meeting at their rented accommodation and were given him drunk after which they suffocated him to demise the use of a pillow, he said.
"They then took the body and dumped it in a godown in Delhi's Ghazipur area," the SSP instructed reporters, adding, "The police have recovered the pillow that was used to choke him to death and the body has also been recovered."
According to the police, the accused had used Singh's personal car to move his body from Greater Noida to Ghazipur on the night time of February 22, and had referred to as for ransom after killing him.
They have been charged beneath Indian Penal Code sections 364 (Kidnapping or abducting to be able to homicide), 302 (homicide) and 201 (inflicting disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false knowledge to display culprit), the police said.
The accused had been produced in a court docket on Monday which remanded them in judicial custody, they added.
