VADODARA: When you walk in any buying groceries mall in the city, the very first thing you undergo is the protection test. But, the city police on Tuesday uncovered safety chinks in every mall and multiplex in the city.
The detection of crime branch (DCB) sleuths walked in the department shops and multiplexes with their revolvers going undetected in the safety exams.
Police performed the force as a precautionary measure after India struck terror camps in Pakistan early on Tuesday morning. "We wanted to see if the security in malls and multiplexes is full-proof as they might be targeted in the coming days. Though, the malls have security guards frisking the visitors, our men managed to walk in easily with their service revolvers," mentioned Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, deputy commissioner of police (crime).
"Not a single mall or multiplex security was able to detect the revolver that our men in plain clothes carried with them. This when, the security guard frisked our men with metal detectors. It shows serious lapse of security at these public places," Jadeja told TOI.
Different groups of cops went to Seven Seas Mall, Centre Square Mall, Vadodara Central Mall, Inorbit Mall, Eva Mall, D Mart in Manjalpur, Inox Multiplex and Ved Transcube PVR Mall in Sayajigunj. "Our men walked in with their firearm without being detected in every mall. We have summoned the mall management on Wednesday. They will be warned about the security lapse and if they don't take corrective steps, complaint will be filed against them," Jadeja mentioned.
The cybercrime cellular could also be protecting close watch at the social media. "Action will be taken against any person making provocative or anti-national posts," the police mentioned. The cops also are keeping an eye on the vital installations in the city.
