PM lays foundation stone for Trichy airport bldg

TRICHY: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the basis stone for the brand new integrated passenger terminal construction on the international airport in Trichy, through video-conferencing from Tirupur. The new terminal construction would come up at an estimated value of Rs 951 crore close to the present terminal construction.
The undertaking is predicted to be completed on October 18, 2021, officers mentioned.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already sanctioned Rs 951 crore for the construction of the 61,634-square-meter integrated terminal construction, along side a new apron and Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower.

Out of the overall outlay of Rs 951 crore, Rs 564 crore has been allotted to build an integrated terminal construction.

The new two-level modular integrated passenger terminal construction would be totally air-conditioned to handle 3.63 million passengers a year on complete capacity and a couple of,900 passenger right through height hours with provision for expansion. The new construction may have incorporating native subject matters.

The first section of the undertaking also contains the construction of aerobridges, car parking, and new residential quarters of AAI and CISF group of workers.


Speaking to reporters, the brand new airport terminal undertaking manager P Srikrishna mentioned along side new integrated terminal construction, development of recent technical block cum regulate tower would also be taken up at an estimation of Rs 75 crore. No objection certificate for top clearance has been already obtained for 42.five meter, as this construction will be the highest one on the airport, he mentioned.


“As the present apron is accommodating simplest seven planes, two further bays might be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore to meet the demand. All the work would come below the primary section of this undertaking”, he mentioned.


The terminal construction would be constructed as in line with the standards of ‘GRIHA’ (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) four superstar rated sustainable design which maximises using herbal light inside the construction and accommodates renewable power measures, equivalent to rainwater harvesting, flooring source warmth pumps and photovoltaic panels, he added.
