Thiruvananathapuram: Renowned Malayalam poet and one of the crucial seriously acclaimed lyricist of the Malayalam film business, Rafeeq Ahamed has been decided on for the Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam’s (ADMS) Sahithya Puraskaram for the 12 months 2018.
The jury comprising poet V Madhusoodhanan Nair, Kalady University pro-vice chancellor Okay S Ravikumar and writers B Murali and A M Muhammed unanimously decided on Ahamed for the award. The award, which carries a handbag of Rs 25,000, certificates and mementos, will be introduced in March final week at Abu Dhabi. Ahamed could also be the recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for poetry (2006), and five-time state film award winner for easiest lyricist.
Jury chairman Madhusoodhanan Nair mentioned Ahamed was once anyone who was once destined to be a great poet and musician. “From his very first poem itself, I used to be sure that he was once going to attain great heights in the world of poetry and tune,” he mentioned. tnn
