AP: EC launches 'cVIGIL' to empower citizens

GUNTUR: To empower voters to curb ballot malpractices, the Election Commission has introduced an app, cVIGIL, which is helping folks to lodge court cases with the EC.

Voters can add pictures or movies of irregularities and violations thru cVIGIL. The app will provide time stamped evidence of the fashion code of conduct and expenditure violation. “The aggregate of time-stamping, live photo with auto location can also be somewhat relied upon through the election machinery to navigate to the suitable spot and take action,” said Guntur district collector Kona Sasidhar.

He said the GIS-based dashboard will assist government to ignore frivolous and hoaxes. He said the app would reduce workload on the election machinery.

This the first time the Election Commission has launched an app to empower citizens and lead them to part of the enforcement in opposition to malpractices.
